How do I speak in traffic court to make sure someone doesn't beat a ticket?

A man hit my car and was cited with improper backing. I found out that he has court tomorrow morning and I want to go to make sure that he doesn't beat the ticket. I've found out that this bonehead not only is trying to fight the ticket, but he has told his insurance company a LIE and said its my fault and he's also obtained a lawyer and he's trying to claim injuries. This minor accident happened in a parking lot and I was at a complete stop when he backed out of parkin and hit me. He is NOT injured and I want to make sure he doesn't get his citation dismissed. What do I say? Do I stand up with the cop?
