Who else hated To Kill A Mockingbird?
Well, I totally respect your opinion of course, but I'm sorry to say I love the book as well, it wasn't written intended to be a masterpiece, but somehow, it ended up being one. Its just a simple story of the most basic elements of mankind, right and wrong, goodness and evil, but primarily, referring to Scout's point of view, trying not to lose your faith, belief or duty of right in the world even though one may witness vice and terrible injustices and loses one's innocence. Referring to Dolphus Raymond, well, during the 1930s, and particularly so in the South, it was risky and even at times hazardous in society to openly to have such things as mixed-raced children. And though there are those who are not cowards, sometimes you cannot change the world and at times, and this has nothing to do with contradicting standing up for rights, when it concerns something as precious and important as your children, you simply cannot risk it. You can't risk getting rights in general to your belief when other's lives may be at risk too because of it, sometimes if it were just you, it would be another thing, but who would want to drag their children into this? So at times, you play by the rules. Atticus Finch attempted to save Tom Robinson, and he is a courageous man for doing so, it was a tremondous thing to do and to stand up to and take on the entire town on his back, but that doesn't mean that everyone who doesn't is a coward, its okay if not everyone does that, because that is something that just gives off enormous waves of consequences.
